No remote

23 Dec

Our trials have shown a need to remotely open the gate without a remote control. There are gates on the market that use a mobile phone text message or ‘calling’ the gate. These work quite well but are slow, especially the text option, sometimes taking several minutes to successfuly open the gate. The other problem and one more pertinent to us is the power demand of maintaing a mobile phone link. This power demand is well in excess of the RF we are using. Our current thoughts are around using what the vehicle has that an animal does not such as bulk, height or sound. Experiments are taking place but we do not – yet – have a system sufficiently reliable.
