Temple Grandin

29 May

Temple Grandin is an autistic lady in North America who has revolutionised cattle handling in many states. A significant number of abattoirs have re-designed their facilities around her ideas to speed up the flow of cattle and produce a calmer atmosphere. What Temple does is encourage you to see the world as an animal would and think about how that animal will respond to the stimulus that it perceives. Seemingly inconsequential items such as a jacket hung in view of a race or crush can cause animals to baulk at moving towards an object it does not recognise. She also has some rather unusual views on Labrador dogs.
